Our commitment to quality and freshness means that we meticulously pack and prepare every order on the day of shipping. We ship from our location on Holyoke Wharf in Portland, Maine's historic Working Waterfront (416 Commercial St, Holyoke Wharf, Portland, ME).

Our Monkfish is wild-caught by local fishermen in the Gulf of Maine. This is super local, well handled wild fish, from a sustainable resource/fishery. There's a lot to be excited about with this excellent local option.
This Monkfish was caught during a day-boat trip and delivered to us fresh (this fish has never been frozen). Day-boat is a term used when a fishing vessel does not spend multiple days at sea, often freezing fish on the boat.
We clean and cut the fillet into 1 pound increments for you. This is a top-quality local option that we are proud to offer at SoPo.
Monkfish is often called the poor man's lobster. The reason for this is its firm texture and sweet flavor, reminiscent of our beloved Maine lobster.
