Our Mission

SoPo’s mission is to connect professional chefs, restaurants, and online shoppers with the highest-quality local and sustainable Maine seafood available.   

To achieve this mission, we are partnering with fishermen, shellfish growers, scallopers, lobstermen, and clam diggers up and down the Maine Coast who work daily to bring delicious sustainable product to market.  

Deep Roots in Maine

SoPo Seafood might be new to the Maine Seafood scene, but its owners are not. With a combined 40 (plus) years of sourcing and selling seafood in the Pine Tree State, SoPo’s three owners are no strangers to the bounty Maine's coastline has to offer.

With decades of sourcing and selling seafood in Maine, we are not only experts on where to find the highest-quality fresh product, but also on the best ways to get that seafood to your kitchen.

Our Why

We want to see Maine’s seafood industry thrive. Many coastal communities around Maine rely on the seafood industry – from small mussel and oyster farms to lobstermen and ground fishermen.

We see partnering and supporting these local operations as the best way to ensure their prosperity for many years to come. 

Environmental Commitment

At SoPo, we are fully committed to finding the most sustainable and energy efficient ways to conduct our business. We will continue to audit and alter our systems to reduce our single-use plastic and Styrofoam consumption.

We will constantly strive to reduce our carbon foot-print by sourcing the most local products possible and we will shift our energy sources to non-fossil fuel options as they become market ready
